Barnhall and Thomond together entered the AIBL in December 1999 and were pitched against each other on their very first weekend in AIBL – 4. At Parsonstown on December 4, Barnhall won 35-7 and collected a bonus point for tries in the process. The two clubs have met during every subsequent AIBL season ; today is the seventh fixture between the clubs in Division Two. Thomond have beaten Barnhall at Parsonstown on their four most recent visits : 12-7 in March 2001, 15-14 in January 2003, 20-18 in October 2004 and 12-11 in February 2006. All were tight games and in fact, the Blue Bulls have picked up a bonus point in all five defeats suffered at the hands of the Soda Cakes. Barnhall have lost their most recent three fixtures against Thomond

Niall Mellon Township............... 10th Oct 2007

Irish Townships is a charity set up by Niall Mellon after he experienced the living conditions endured by people in the townships around CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA when he holidayed in that area in 2002. Rather than raise money for handouts, he chose the practical option and so sought volunteers to provide labour and materials to build basic dwellings to relieve some of the hardship. Two Barnhall men have joined the list of volunteers for this years project - JOHN CODY and PADRAIC BEATTY. They are both past Presidents and former players with BARNHALL RFC and are currently members of the executive committee. They must raise a minimum of €4000 each to take part in the project and so are planning a number of fund raising events. Your support would be greatly appreciated. If you cannot attend any of these events perhaps you could help in other ways.

  • FRIDAY OCTOBER 13th POKER CLASSIC ST. MARY'S GAA, LEIXLIP 9pm.

Please take the time to read the enclosed information about the townships already involved in the project. More information available on http://www.irishtownship.com. Some of the accounts of past volunteers make some very interesting reading. Just click on "VOLUNTEERS" and then "TESTIMONIALS" to read some of their accounts in poetry and prose. Advance booking for the dinner is essential as places are limited.
